Railway: Stability And Erosion Control

Erosion control is the practice of preventing or controlling wind or water erosion in agriculture, land development and construction. This usually involves the creation of some sort of physical barrier to absorb the energy of the wind or water that is causing the erosion. Our METALITH barriers offer a solution to many types of erosion problems, especially when it affects the quality and stability of our network of railway tracks throughout the U.S. Our METALITH Railway Stabilization System includes fill material selection and installation practices which provide long-term stability to trouble-prone areas. METALITH allows for the creation of exposed, stepped faces, or buried, hidden components with soil contouring matching the existing native embankment slopes. METALITH barriers offer benefits such as:

  • Railway ground and track stabilization
  • Reinforcement against washout
  • Reduces the potential for injury and/or loss of life
  • Eliminates buildup of hydrostatic pressure within embankment
  • Standardized components that allow for system-wide uniformity
